it's been there since 1913.  there to honor fallen US soldiers from the Korean War.  should it be taken down?  why?

San Diego's Mt. Soledad Cross is in danger of being taken down.  you can help.

the number '9'

so ever since i can remember, the number '9' has always been my favorite number.  i forget why, but i vaguely remember i was number '9' on some classroom roster in my 2nd grade class (in hk).  i think i also got 9th place in some track race in 3rd grade  (yah, doesn't say much about my running).

anyway, so my first time waiting to be a prospective jury duty today, and i get assigned a panel number.  my panel number was "panel 9".  after about an hour's worth of waiting in the juror's assembly room, they started to call panels into courtrooms.  panel 2-3... panel 4, 5, 6...  i kinda zoned out and did my own thing for a while.

then they called "panel 12"...  which was caught my attention, because '9' comes before '12'.  fifteen minutes later, they call "panel 10", and then another fifteen minutes later, they call "panel 11".  you can tell who are the panel 9's in the room because they were the ones with the irritated/confused look.

finally, after about two hours of waiting, the lady called panel 9 through the loudspeaker, but instead of telling us which courtroom to go... she explains the case was settled and that we were free to go!  :)  by the excitement of the panel 9's, you can tell no one wanted to be there.  haha.

number '9', you did good.  you are my favorite number.

first time having to attend prospective jury duty...  not so fun.

juror facts: get paid $15 a day and .34/mile for one way from home to the court.

whoop-di-do.

we received photo IDs for work...  along with my picture, it says "employee 433".  kinda weird to be labeled with a number.
